Brief: Yuencha is a Chinese tea house/merchant in Hong Kong, specialising and importing Pu Erh tea from ‘Yunnan – 雲南’. The old logo was simply a yin-yang symbol. Although appropriately used and symbolises the health and balance. Yin-yang is a cliché and commonly used across Chinese culture and ideas. Our task was to create a logo that has ownership but still maintain the health and balance qualities.
Solution: We played around with many design ideas, eventually we came back to the yin-yang, But we manipulated and evolved the designs to make it unique.
Outcome: The swirls in the yin-yang symbol was redrawn to combine swirling cloud ‘雲’ and tea leaf. This made the logo more ownable and still in keeping with its core idea.
